Debbie

Has been involved in the youth club since 1991, as an after-school club worker. Moving through the age groups until she became leader in 1996. Debbie holds a youth and community qualification level 3 as well as a NVQ level 3 in childcare. She is passionate about providing opportunities and a safe space for young people and feels that her time spent with Henfield Youth club has been a total privilege.

Rachael

Rachael was a member of Henfield Youth Club for many years before taking up a school-based volunteering opportunity through Outset. From there she ran a very successful dance group then went through the age groups to becoming a senior youth worker. Rachael’s own children now enjoy being members of our group. Rachael holds a degree in counselling for young people and her skills are invaluable in our group. Rachael had the proud honour of being one of the dignitaries of opening our new centre in 2005. Rachael holds an NVQ level 2 in youth and community.

Claire

Claire was a member herself of Henfield Youth Club and has been a staff member for many years! Claire has much experience in children who are in the care system as her parents are foster carers, which brings great insight into her work with the youth club. Claire has two children, who have both been members of the youth club.

Darren

Darren was a member with the youth club ever since he was at the after-school club when he was around 8 years old. He was one of the senior members who supported the committee when we were researching into our new premises. Darren volunteered for many years before becoming a staff member. Darren, along with Rachael, was one of our dignitaries when we opened our new building in 2005.

Sarah

Sarah was a member for many years of Henfield Youth Club, enjoying many residentials with young people as a volunteer. Sarah has a great passion for young people and has been instrumental in starting our new Poppin Café that is offered for older young people. Sarah has great ideas for new activities and supports Debbie in making them happen for our junior group.

Amy

Amy was a member of Henfield Youth Club whilst growing up and most of her family have been part of the staff team during that time. Amy's son now enjoys being a member of our group himself. This is Amy's second time of being with us, the first time being part of a dance group. Amy is organised, calm and always willing to step in when a job needs doing. She is a very valued member of our junior team.

Holly

Holly joined us 18 months ago as a volunteer and supports the junior work group. Holly has a vast knowledge of the care system and young people with additional needs, which is a great asset to our team. Like the rest of our youth club family, Holly has had many other family members who have been involved in our team. Holly has two children who enjoy joining in with our activities at the youth club.

Jackie

Jackie is a fantastic asset to our group! Not only does she volunteer at our Junior group and gets fully involved in planning and implementing activities, she is a very active member of our committee. Jackie supports Debbie on a daily basis and is at every fundraising event and activity. Her history with the youth club goes back many years as she was a worker at the playgroup that ran in our old building. Jackie's family support us as well in a variety of ways and we couldn’t do without her or her family's dedication and care!

Aaron

Aaron is a junior volunteer who helps out at every event that he can get to! He is supportive and willing and keeps all of our coffee bar stock in order at all times! In return, Aaron is learning new skills which he can take through into his adult life.

Paula

Paula has been successful in becoming one of our new support admin workers and youth workers. She will be running the Poppin Café and working a Senior session with the view of being part of our new project night offer. Paula was herself a member for many years and is very excited to be able to give back to our current members some of the experiences that she benefited from herself.

Lucy

Lucy is job-sharing the role of admin assistant and youth worker. Lucy holds an NVQ level 3 in childcare and has vast experience in caring for children, being part of committees, and fundraising. Lucy will be running the Poppin Café as well as being part of our new project night and Junior youth club.

Trevor

Trevor is a volunteer and helps at Seniors on Thursdays. He played football for Henfield and instructs, coaches, and teaches archery, badminton, and football. He loves encouraging others to “go further”. Trevor has experience in programs aimed at developing children with learning, hearing, and physical issues. He has also been an outreach worker with youth and young adults in both London and West Sussex.
