Our Aim
We are inclusive of all young people regardless of race, gender, and abilities, providing a welcoming, safe space in a fun environment for ages 7½ to 17 years. We respect each member as individuals, supporting them in their transition into adulthood through both planned and reactive activities in both group and one-on-one situations. We want our youngsters to feel ownership of the Club and we often have discussions with them about what they would like to do whilst here and what equipment we need. This has enabled us to draw up a ‘Wish List’. We have activities that support mental and physical wellbeing and skills development and we listen.
Our History
Henfield Youth Club has been in our village as an organisation since 1962 and was originally in the old infant school building in Neptown. Through lots of hard work from some very dedicated local people and Henfield Parish Council in 2005, we were able to move into a new purpose-built building.
Present Day
Since that time, we have been through a lot of changes, our biggest one being the withdrawal of financial and youth service support from WSS Youth Services, who funded the staff and gave a substantial grant towards the building costs. We found ourselves facing a mammoth challenge, which we rose to thankfully through the dedication of our consistent staff team, our committee and amazing local organizations, local and district council plus support from local people. We are now one of very few remaining youth clubs, for which we are really proud.
As we receive no regular funding, applying for grants is a continuous process. We require funding for our core costs as well as for maintaining and refurbishing our building, which is now 20 years old.
